MRCA: operating southeast Georgia's only accredited, year-round day school for children with autism since 2000.

Autism is a neurological condition that affects how a person connects with the world. While the impact varies with every individual, the always present indicator is social and communication disorder - a disruption in the ability to adequately communicate with and relate to other people within the individual's life that "disorders" that person's life. Frequently, autism is an invisible condition, appearing to many as eccentricity that should be harnessed. Behavioral outbursts can be frightening to others and the person experiencing them. Sensory overload can be crippling. Many children with autism suffer from intense anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and ADHD. Teens with autism are more prone to depression and suicide than in the general population. Most children with autism have been bullied. Many children with autism have never had a friend.
